WORKING ON RENOVATION.jpg

It is good memory time to see the “back in the day” pictures of Boston Chapel with my wife Janice and our children Miriam and Sharon. We warmly recall the support received from Rev. Kenneth Pearsall; Rev. Pearsall had a vision for the inner city and formed a district urban ministries board for the New England district. Several ENC professors helped us with the transition from Elmwood Avenue in Roxbury to Massachusetts Avenue, in South Boston after the city took our property by eminent domain.  Prior to the move we had the adventure of attending church at the Elmwood property with the city water turned off and no heat during a Boston winter; the church was delighted to move into the partially renovated property at Massachusetts Avenue. ~Gary Goodell

Main stays of church ministries at the chapel were the leadership of Brenda Griffin, our SS Superintendent and a group of ENC students who provided music and youth ministries. Janice has located a snap shot of the King family with whom we shared long term home based Bible study; I remember Mrs. Freeman, the chapel’s “mother in Israel.” ~Gary Goodell
